Only a Dream

By: Dora Cox

Peace all around

A green ocean surrounds me

Blades go side to side

A tree hovers above me

giving me shelter

It’s rich tasting apples

fall into my lap

Far a head a house

Brings to come over me

a warm feeling fills the soul

The suns rays brighten the blue

sky with its yellow orange color

Butterflies chase the morning sky

A blank page

to place thoughts and dreams

Sweet music of a hummingbird

brings me to a place

A dream place

Makes me

wild and free

Free from one’s  critism

Free from one’s judgment

Free from outside noise

Noise that makes one’s head hurt

Noise from one’s mouth to

antagonize a fight

A loud thump

Makes me realize

it was all a dream

Sitting here

in a noisy class room

Laughter fills the room

Phones ring

Argument’s over

the smallest things

Hard to find

a moment to yourself

Thought’s mixed up

Mind fills like its going

to burst

Head throbs

A moment in time

Frozen

Just for me

A happy place

Only a dream
